We are an active group of retired school employees who work for the well-being of our members, our community, and our schools.

We serve as advocates for all retired school employees to the Texas State Legislature and the Teacher Retirement System. As a service organization, we provide resources for our Children’s Book Project, Scholarship Program, and the Texas Retired Teachers Foundation.

Meetings are held the first Thursday of every other month starting in August through June at Ennis ISD Transportation Facility Training Room. Meeting in that facility begins April 2024! The TRTA Children’s Book Project is a major project that we participate in to provide books for children in Ennis. We have a Foundation fundraiser in December. We do volunteer service projects for senior citizens in our community. In June we give scholarships to beginning teachers in Ennis or graduating Ennis High School seniors majoring in education.

Interesting programs, field trips, and pertinent information are presented at our meetings. We welcome the membership of all retired school employees, their families, and anyone interested in education in our area.
